The full workbench, on your OS.

The desktop app is the complete surface - Chat, Code, Usage, and Settings, the local daemon, provider runtimes, and analytics. It runs local-first: it starts its own loopback daemon and lands you in a working This device workspace. Connecting other devices is optional, never the front door.

Before you install.

Which client should I start with?

On a Mac, start with the Mac app - it is the flagship and hosts the daemon everything else pairs to. On Windows or Linux, install the desktop app or the CLI; both run local-first. Add the iPhone app to monitor and approve on the move. You can run as many clients as you like against the same sessions.

Do I need a Mac to use Continuum?

No. The Windows and Linux desktop apps and the CLI each run local-first with their own bundled daemon - no Mac required. A Mac is one great way to host, not the only one. You can also host sessions on any enrolled Linux or Mac box and drive them from any client.

How stable are the Windows and Linux apps?

They are beta. The Mac and iPhone apps are the mature, stable clients; the Windows and Linux desktop apps and the CLI are newer and still moving fast. They work, and we would love your bug reports, but treat them as a preview and expect the occasional rough edge.

Are the downloads code-signed?

The Mac app is signed and notarized, and the Windows installer is signed - Windows may still show a SmartScreen warning on first run while the certificate builds reputation. The Linux builds and the CLI archives are not signed yet, so their checksums only detect accidental corruption; verify the release origin on GitHub for those.

Is the web app really zero-install?

Yes. Sign in at continuumcode.ai/app on any machine and you get the full control plane in a tab. Something still has to host the compute - your Mac, an enrolled device, or a serverless burst - but the browser needs nothing installed.

Does it cost the same on every platform?

Yes. The Continuum app is free on every client: Mac, Windows, Linux, CLI, iPhone, Watch, and web. Bring your own provider keys and you pay those labs directly, with no Continuum app fee. Optional Continuum-hosted inference (Plus, Max, Ultra) is the same wherever you sign in. See pricing.
