xAI ships Grok, Grok Bot, Grok Automations and Grok Build, and a community project called grok-cli shares a name with the last one. They have different prices, different surfaces, and only two of the five can be called from your own code. Grok Bot's floor is Cursor Teams Standard at $40 per seat per month and its individual entry is Cursor Pro+ at $60; the SuperGrok Plus and Heavy figures, about $100 and about $300, are reported rather than officially published by xAI. superagent-ai/grok-cli is unaffiliated with xAI and its README does not mention the official CLI, which is why the name collision catches people.

Grok Bot is a separate product launched on 11 August 2026: always-on named teammates that run on a cloud VM and are used through desktop and mobile apps rather than the chat window. Grok is something you ask; Grok Bot is something you delegate to. They also have different access paths, because Grok Bot requires an eligible Cursor or SuperGrok subscription and a Cursor account.

It left beta around 7 August 2026, authenticates through a browser on a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription or through an API key, and documents headless scripting, MCP servers and an ACP agent mode. superagent-ai/grok-cli is an unaffiliated open-source community project that shares the name, runs on your own xAI API key, and is not xAI software. Two different tools, one search term.
No. Grok Automations is a feature inside Grok itself, renamed from Tasks on 16 July 2026, which fires a prompt on a schedule or when an email matches a filter. It prompts the chatbot rather than operating your apps, and it has no API. Email triggers require a SuperGrok subscription at $30 a month. Grok Bot is the separate always-on teammate product with its own apps and its own eligibility rules.
Grok the chatbot has a free tier, and SuperGrok at $30 a month raises the limits. Grok Build rides that same $30 SuperGrok tier, or X Premium+, or a separately billed xAI API key. Grok Automations is inside Grok, though its email triggers need SuperGrok at $30. Grok Bot is the expensive one: it needs an eligible plan, from Cursor Teams Standard at $40 per seat or Cursor Pro+ at $60 up to SuperGrok Heavy, reported at about $300 a month. The community grok-cli is free software that bills through your own API key.
Four of these five are cheap or free. The one that is not is Grok Bot, which needs an eligible subscription before you can start and bills metered overage after an undisclosed allowance. Those are two separate questions and each has its own tool.
