SuperGrok pricing: all eight tiers, and the $270 hole in the ladder

How much is SuperGrok? The full ladder

SuperGrok is not one price. It is a ladder of eight rungs that mixes two product lines, the Grok subscriptions and the X Premium subscriptions, and the two lines overlap in ways that make the cheapest route to a given feature genuinely non-obvious. Here is the whole thing in one table, with a confidence column, because that column is the part every other pricing page leaves out.

The $270 hole is worth naming explicitly. Four of the five pricing pages currently ranking for this query list SuperGrok at $30 and SuperGrok Heavy at $300 and nothing in between, which leaves a reader believing the only upgrade above $30 is a tenfold one. SuperGrok Plus at $100 sits in that gap, and it is not a cosmetic rung: it is where Grok Bot access begins. A buyer who wants always-on agents and reads one of those pages either overpays by $200 a month or concludes the product is out of reach.

What each tier actually includes

Price is the easy half. The harder question is which entitlement crosses which threshold, because xAI ships four distinct products under the Grok name and they do not all unlock at the same rung.

Grok Build at $30 is the fact the SERP gets most wrong

xAI’s own announcement page for the coding CLI says, in one sentence: "Available now to all SuperGrok and X Premium Plus subscribers." That puts Grok Build, a full terminal coding agent with plan and apply flows, MCP support, parallel sub-agents in worktrees, headless scripting, and an ACP surface, inside the $30 tier and inside the $40 X Premium+ tier.

Pages currently ranking for the coding comparison queries price it at $299 a month, describe it as Heavy-only, or state that there is no individual tier that carries it. All three are wrong against a page xAI publishes and has not changed. If you are here because a comparison article told you Grok’s coding agent costs $300, that is the single most expensive error in this category and it is a tenfold one. Grok Bot starts at $100, and one plan name is a trap

Grok Bot is the always-on agent product that launched on 11 August 2026. Its eligible-plan list, from docs.x.ai, reads: "An eligible plan: SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Pro+, Cursor Ultra, or Cursor Teams Standard or Premium". Cursor’s own help page is more specific about the SuperGrok half and states it twice over: "Only individual SuperGrok Plus and individual SuperGrok Heavy grant Grok Bot usage", and "SuperGrok Team and SuperGrok Enterprise plans are not supported."

The Grok Bot pricing page prices all six eligible routes side by side, including the Cursor ones, and covers the uncapped overage meter that sits underneath every one of them.

The annual maths

Annual billing exists on some rungs and not others, and where it exists it is close to the industry-standard two months free rather than anything more aggressive.

Two observations that change a decision rather than just describing one. First, SuperGrok annual at $300 is $25 a month effective, which lands it in the same band as ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro at $20 each, and below Cursor Pro at $20 plus anything. For a subscription that includes a full coding CLI, that is the strongest value point on the entire ladder and it is the tier nobody writes about.

Second, no annual price for Heavy appears anywhere we could check. Everything that names Heavy names $300 a month, which annualises to $3,600 a year, and that is the number to put next to any alternative you are weighing. If an annual Heavy price exists at checkout, it is unreported, and the promotional activity described below suggests xAI is currently pulling the effective price down with time-boxed offers rather than with an annual discount.

The reported $99 Heavy promotion

There is a widely circulated offer that takes SuperGrok Heavy from $300 to $99 a month, a 67 per cent discount, described by several outlets as a push to get people using Grok Build. We could not verify it against xAI, and the reporting on its duration conflicts, so treat it as a rumour to check at checkout rather than a price to plan on. The disagreement is worth $600.

• One trade outlet reports the discount running for six months, which is $594 for that period against $1,800 at list, a $1,206 saving.
• A first-hand write-up describes a targeted three-month offer flow, which is $297 for that period, after which it reverts to $300.
• Promotion-tracking accounts claim stacked paths to a lower annual figure still. We could not verify any of those claims against xAI and would not plan around them.

A promotional price is also a poor basis for a tier choice. The question worth answering is whether Heavy is worth $300, because that is what you will be paying in month four or month seven. The Heavy page works through what the tier actually buys, and the worth-it page runs the maths per user type.

The trial, and why we will not give you a number

There are two different trials in this ecosystem and they are constantly conflated, including by pages that rank for both.

Regional pricing, including India

"SuperGrok price in India" is a real and frequent query, and it has a real answer shape even though it does not have a real number we are willing to print.

xAI prices consumer subscriptions regionally. That is observable indirectly: promotional availability differs by country, the SuperGrok trial is reported as regionally gated, and the X Premium line has carried country-specific pricing since long before the Grok tiers existed. So a rupee price exists and it is not simply the dollar price converted at spot.

What we will not do is invent it. We could not load an xAI pricing page at all, let alone a localised one, and the third-party pages quoting an Indian rupee figure are quoting each other rather than a source. A converted number stated with confidence is worse than no number, because a reader budgets against it.

The Cursor side of the same ladder

Since SpaceX closed its acquisition of Anysphere, Cursor’s maker, on 14 to 15 August 2026, the two subscription ladders have started to interlock. For one entitlement in particular, Grok Bot, the Cursor ladder is a genuine alternative route and sometimes a cheaper one.

Two conclusions fall out of putting the two ladders next to each other. If all you want is Grok Bot, the cheapest path is not a SuperGrok plan at all: it is a Cursor Teams Standard seat at $40, or Cursor Pro+ at $60 if you are alone. And if you were going to buy Cursor Ultra at $200 anyway, then SuperGrok Heavy at $300 is only $100 more than a plan you already wanted, since Ultra also carries Grok Bot. That arbitrage is worked through properly on the Heavy page.

What a subscription does not buy

Four things people routinely assume are included, and are not. Each one has cost somebody money.

• API credits. The xAI API is a separate, self-serve product billed per token at console.x.ai. No SuperGrok tier includes API credit, and no API spend counts against a subscription. Pages that imply you need SuperGrok to use the API have it backwards: you need neither for the other.
• A spend cap on Grok Bot. The weekly token allowance underneath the agent product is unpublished, and past it overage bills at raw model rates with no cap available. The seat price is the floor, not the ceiling.
• A model picker inside Grok Bot. Routing is automatic and undisclosed, so you cannot send cheap work to a cheaper model to slow the meter.
• Grok Bot on the business plans. SuperGrok Team and SuperGrok Enterprise are explicitly excluded by Cursor’s documentation, which is the opposite of what most people expect an upgrade to do.

Which tier should you actually buy

The general rule this table encodes: buy the entitlement, not the rung. The ladder is arranged so that the obvious next step up from where you are is rarely the cheapest route to the thing you want. Somebody on SuperGrok at $30 who wants agents is told to look at Heavy at $300; the answer is usually a $60 Cursor plan. Somebody on Cursor Pro at $20 who wants a coding CLI is told to look at Pro+ at $60; SuperGrok at $30 carries Grok Build. Read across the ladders, not up one of them.

The two facts on this page that came from a primary source we loaded ourselves today are the ones doing the most work: xAI’s statement that Grok Build is available to all SuperGrok and X Premium Plus subscribers, and Cursor’s statement that only individual SuperGrok Plus and individual SuperGrok Heavy grant Grok Bot usage. Those two sentences fix both ends of the entitlement question, and between them they contradict most of what currently ranks.
